Dear Eastern Zone Coaches;
I am standing in today for Peter who is
traveling on his way to do some club visits. I am aware that the majority
of you have received this information already and that most of the Middle
Atlantic LSC coaches have already completed the screening as one of the LSC’s
in the pilot. However, since we have received some information that not
everyone who needed to received this information have,
we are resending it. I apologize if you have received this for a second
time.
We are currently in an ‘open enrollment’
period, which means that anyone from any LSC may go in and complete their
screening. There will be another ‘open’ screening slot during
March. Beginning on January 8th the ‘rollout’ will begin with
coaches in specific LSC’s required to complete during each rollout period.
This is to ensure that we do not swamp the program with all 10,000 coaches at
once. Once your LSC is designated you will be required to complete it,
background screening will be required the same as safety training, if you are
not current you will not be allowed on the deck at meets and might be
jeopardizing your insurance coverage.
My best recommendation, either do the
screening now in the open period or at the very start of your rollout
period. Do not wait until the end of the period because it could take 3 –
5 days or longer for the process and you might not be eligible to be on the
deck at a meet for your athletes.
In the next 7 – 14 days those coaches in
the January 8th rollout will receive the information on how and what
to do in a hardcopy, via mail.
If you have any questions please feel free
to contact either myself, Peter [pclark@usaswimming.org] or Pat Hogan
[phogan@usaswimming.org]
All the best for some fast swimming.
